The Queer Gala tulee taas! Gaala järjestetään tänä vuonna kolmatta kertaa ja suurempana kuin koskaan.

Tervetuloa lauantaina 2.12.2023 iloiseen joukkoomme juhlistamaan LGBTQIA+ -yhteisöä ja palkitsemaan häikäiseviä queer-toimijoita. Tunnustusten jakamisen lisäksi tapahtumaan on kutsuttu upeita esiintyjiä, jotka tarjoilevat gaalayleisölle burleskia, dragia ja musiikkiesityksiä.
Gaalan teemana on jaettu queer-ilo. Se voi olla onnea, nautintoa, mielihyvää, lämpöä, lempeä ja yhteisöllisyyden kokemusta. On aika jakaa iloa ja rakkautta sateenkaariyhteisölle! Ota siis mukaan itsesi, ystäväsi, heilasi, kumppanisi, valittu perheesi tai vaikka koko polypallosi ja tule kanssamme tähän iloiseen queer-kuplaan!

Tapahtumapaikkana toimii ensimmäistä kertaa historiallinen Valkoinen Sali, joka sijaitsee Helsingin Kruununhaassa, Aleksanterinkatu 16:ssa.
​
Tapahtuma on kielletty alle 18-vuotiailta, sillä Valkoisen Salin yhteydessä on baari.
​
Huomioithan muut juhlavieraat, etkä käytä vahvoja tuoksuja.
​
Tapahtumassa noudatetaan turvallisemman tilan ja suojaisan yhteisön periaatteita. Paikalla on häirintäyhdyshenkilöitä, joille voit kertoa, jos kohtaat häiritsevää käytöstä.
​
Valkoinen Sali on saavutettava liikkumisen apuvälineitä käyttäville. Aleksanterinkadun sisäänkäynti on täysin esteetön. Sisään käydään porttikongin ja sisäpihan kautta. Tarkemmat esteettömyystiedot löydät täältä.

The Queer Gaalassa noudatetaan vihreitä arvoja tapahtumantuottamisessa. Rakennamme tapahtuman kierrätys-, laina- sekä tapahtuman jälkeen uusiokäyttöön menevistä materiaaleista. Baarissa tajoiltavat virvokkeet kuin henkilöstön ruokakin ovat myös täysin vegaanisia. Olemme sitoutuneet noudattamaan tuotannossa Qaarevan ympäristösuunnitelmaa.

Awa Sowe
Awa on esiintyvä taiteilija, joka rakastaa saada yleisön mukaan hitaan liikkeen ja tarinankerronan avulla.
“Teen paljon melankolista esiintyvää taidetta, joka saattaa aiheuttaa ihmisissä surua mutta myös vapautumisen tunnetta. Esiintyjänä tykkään tehdä kaunista, pysäyttävää työtä, joka on hyvin erilaista kuin twerk-persoonani.”
Teemoja ovat haavoittuvuuden näyttäminen, itsensä riisuminen metaforisesti ja kirjaimellisesti. Syvä hengitys, ojentunut käsi ja kosketus; saattaa kuulostaa yksinkertaiselta, mutta kun katsot syvemmälle, pinnan alle, se voi merkitä paljon enemmän.

Welcome to our joyous crowd to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and honor outstanding queer advocates on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023. In addition to the recognitions, the event will feature amazing performers who will delight the gala audience with burlesque, drag, and music performances.
​
The theme of this year’s gala is shared queer joy. It can be happiness, pleasure, love, gentleness, warmth and an experience of community. It’s time to spread joy and love to the queer community! So, bring yourself, your friends, lovers, partners, chosen family or your whole polycule and join us in this happy queer bubble!

AFTER PARTY @DTM Helsinki! With a ticket to The Queer Gala, entrance fee is reduced for 3.50 € before 11pm and 15.50 € after 11pm! NOTE: on weekends, DTM's the age limit is 22.

For the first time, historical Valkoinen Sali will serve as the venue, located at Aleksanterinkatu 16 in Kruununhaka, Helsinki.
​
The event is prohibited for those under 18 years of age, as there is a bar connected to the Valkoinen Sali. Please consider other party guests and refrain from using strong fragrances!
The event follows the principles of a safer space and a secure community. There will be harassment contact persons whom you can inform if you encounter disruptive behavior.
​
Valkoinen Sali is accessible for those using mobility aids. You can read a detailed accessibility report here.

​​The Queer Gala follows green values in event production. We build the event from materials that are recycled, borrowed and reused after the event. The refreshments served at the bar as well as the staff's food are also completely vegan. We are committed to complying with Qaareva's environmental plan in production.

Performer introductions!
Awa Sowe
Awa is a performing artist who loves to engage the audience through slow movement and story telling.
"I create a lot of melancholic performing art that can evoke sadness in people but also a sense of liberation. As a performer, I enjoy producing beautiful, thought-provoking work that is very different from my twerking persona."
A themes are a display of vulnerability, the stripping of oneself metaphorically and literally. A deep breath, a hand reaching out and even touch may sound simple, yet when you look deeper, beneath the surface, it can mean so much more.
